Chiharu Shiota
Memory:
Chiharu Shiota is an artist who approches memory in many of her works. ISh seems to repeat the use of fiberous web full room installtions. Many of her pieces include garments or found objects. I was drawn to her installations in the way they create an intricate atmosphere that's rather dark but very focussed on communicating a passing of time and a preservation of a memory.

Studio Retrograde Dune
Memory/Presence:
Dune is an interactive electronic light senario placed in a public space. it luminated to the slightest movement or sound of people passing by and leaves a memory of it's presence in the illumination. The work reminds my of a field wheat or tall grass in which the wind blows and the plants dance in the breeze. Also when walking in these field the movement is recorded in the way the place bounce back from the touch and the wind. Foe me dune is like a replica of this senario that can be expierienced in public spaces. giving way to direct interaction and awareness of movement.

Luminoux Lightrail
Interaction/Performace:
Light rail is a tube with touch sensors that interact with the body movement and touch by lighting up. The light follows the body movement through the tubes. The intention of this work was to be used as a performative tool. I think the concept is interesting but feel this could be wore interesting for acrobatic or circus performances that take place in large arenas.

*Chunky Move Glow
Performance/ Interaction:
Glow is movement enhanced projection used for dance performance. It picks up the dancers performance and creates shapes similar to a sketch. The patterns are drawn out with incredible accuracy the moment a movement is sensed it is drawn out. This merges the choreography with interactive aspect that is completely controlled by the dancer. The memory of the movement is still present and stays with the viewer for a longer period of time. Also because it relies on the dancers movement the memory within each performance will always be different.

Performance/interaction:
Mortal Engine is another interactive projectio choreography by Chunky move. This time creating shadows, sensationaland reamy light that encircles the dancers completly activated acording the sensitivity of the dancers movement. Creating new paralellsand dimetions of the idea of dance performances. The idea of new media embeded within dance ccreates new performative expieriences and I feel like this could be something we will be seeing more of in the future.

Iris Van Harpin Capriole
Wearable/Fashion:
Capriole are a collection of clothing BY IRIS VAN HARPIN. They were made using 3d printing and then had crafted into garments. I like both the use of modern technology mixed with traditional clothing craftmanship. The collection gives way to sculptural shapes wich would have been very difficult or nearly impossible to create with traditional technique.

Supermanouver w/ Mesne Design Studio Pricking
Interactive/Craft:
Pricking is a touch table sensor which has the participant create intricate lace sensors. The interface allows creative lacemaking by using technology and the freedom of hand movements. Lace making is a very traditional and dated craft that is not commonly practiced anymore. My interlacing it with technology combines this ancient craft with modern technology.

Interactive/Public art:
Flow is apiece that consists of a wall of hundreds of fans that reacts to sound and movement of bodies that pass by. In using fans the wind can reach a innocent participant and has them stop and observe their surroundings. A direct interaction between public, environment and technology.

Popkalab E-ansa 2010
Wearable technology:
E-ansa is a dress that reacts to cell phone frequecy waves. When the dress senses the use of a cell phone it activates fans which moves the ribbons on the dress. This makes up aware of the cell phone use around the wearer every time a cell phone rings or a text message is received.

Felted signal Processing
Material ideas:
I like the use of integrating felting with technology. Felting is one of the most low tech ways in making a textile. and can also easily layer in electric components.
